I find both about equally difficult. They just have different sets of problems to them and require different handling. Women are more difficult to get variety in their faces though. If you accentuate something incorrectly people accuse you of drawing them too manly, even if it is well within the norm of actual women's face. For example, and defined jaw structure is seen as masculine and a fuck up if you put it on a woman, but there are many women that exist with strong jawlines. With men it is quite easy to vary the structure for different face types once you have some idea of the anatomy and planes of the head.

Very very true, drawing a woman's face requires subtlety. If you draw a face that lacks that subtlety, suddenly it's a man's face. You can have manly features on a woman but you must almost compensate for them by toning down other features to maintain the femininity. Fuck it's hard.

I think I draw both equally well, even though I spend 95% of my time drawing women. As a weeb artist though, I've noticed that a lot of Japanese artists who draw in stereotypical moe styles often fail at drawing men. They either draw teenage male characters who look like women with shorter hair and a pointy chin, or they draw these weird, big-eyed adult characters who just look freaky. A lot of them simply can't draw masculine characters, because they usually require square features, a bit of hatching and clearer lines to draw certain things, like eyes, lips and noses.

Men are difficult for me to draw but its something im practicing. Trying to break the habit of only mindlessly drawing women, and especially only women with my body type (see pic). I think i heard somewhere that we tend to draw ourselves in characters that draw from imagination? Not sure how true it is, but the women i draw do end up having my same body type all the time...hmm

I'm a guy. I made a drawing of this post-apocalyptic chick with no reference at all for her face and I just tried to make her attractive but still tough looking. I showed it a few months later to my big brother who knows nothing about art. His comment?
