from a PURELY artistic point of view, do you prefer capitalist or communist-styled propaganda?
no politics please.
Well, you can't forget that there wan't just capitalism and communism as their only differences. so to narrow down those as the only influence is wrong to do. From what I understand the USSR were mainly atheistic and US had more Christians at the time. If you think about it, the capitalist propaganda looks to be more family centered. I'm sure there are more influences than what I just names.

Post some better examples.
And propaganda wasn't just limited to a decade, it went on until the end of the cold war really. You might want to post some more examples, and maybe name where it comes from - who it's for - and the artist.
The Communist propaganda sends a message of fighting against something, and the capitalist propaganda sends a message of preservation. That's how it seems to me.
I prefer the communist stuff.
Its much more energetic, enthusiastic, that kinda thing
communist posters are all about action, fighting, rescuing, that kinda thing. they have a lot of feeling in them.
the capitalist ones seem more calm and stately, and a lot less engaging to me personally. i think that everybody wants to fight for something, inside.
I love JC Leyendecker, so I guess capitalist, dunno if he necessarily counts as propaganda but he has a lot of hearty American art. Both sides have some good stuff though.
Contemporary Eastern European art feels more refreshing. They have clean, geometric designs. Western artwork just seems gaudy in comparison.
Don't know why graphic design was so bad in the US at the time. Maybe it's because the US didn't rely as heavily on posters for propaganda, since they had mainstream media.

Look at those lines though. It's a steady blend of realism and stylization

i agree
if you remove painting-coloring it could work just like some Comicbook Illustration.
both hemispheres were pretty heavily propaganda laden, america's was way less invasive/coercive though
both have pretty awesome styles imo

Capitalism is selling you grace. Communism reminding you grace is within yourself and you have to fight the external forces taking it away from you.
Shame neither did shit for the world other than make Rotschild more money.
