And no photo are not good as life.

Good enough? Probably. Good? Not really. Considering the vast options you have thanks to the internet, camwhores are some of the worst photos you can study. With a good photographer lens distortion generally isn't an issue, but selfies with shitty camera phones actually do cause problems. Find some quality photography, there are people who actually compose and light shots. Even porn is better than camwhores. The only benefit I can see is if you can get a slut to tailor pose for you.

This is situational. Being able to see stuff with your own eyes in three dimensions is an asset, learning to translate 3d to 2d that way is useful for learning. Photos flatten your subject, inevitably.

That said, there are some poses where photos are absolutely better. If you want something dynamic, getting a model to strike an action pose is going to look retarded. Trying to life draw an action pose either gives you a two second window or the model has to hold a pose, and most dynamic poses aren't 'balanced' (you can't hold yourself in a running pose, and you can fucking tell when someone is running on the spot). That said, 90% of stock photos of action poses are still shit because they still hold the pose and take the picture of it.

Same with animals. Sometimes studying animals from photo ref is better because good luck getting them to sit still. Doing it in real life is still good practice for capturing gestures and working from memory, but don't fall into the trap that half of /ic/ has fallen into that "life always = good and photo always = bad."

tl;dr camwhores are shit, it's easy to find better anatomy refs, study from photos and from life.
