Trying to draw from a shite photo for my friend. Did small sketch on graph paper, for to make bigger on bigger paper to transfer to canvas.
Old school hand grid system, aint got no fancy computerz stuffs
Figured i would clean it up sketchwise on the bigger paper.
Any help would be great, a separate set of eyes is wonderful. I am very out of practice in portraits anymore ><
Photo and first sketch in comments
First sketch
Also, i didn't realise the op pic would load on its side like that...

For something done on a grid it looks absurdly inaccurate. It looks like you're not measuring at all. The features look too big and not really represented accurately, shape of the jaw is wrong.
If this is a sketch for a painting I don't understand the point of the random hatching and scribbles. At this point you should be working on some value/tonal composition thumbnails and more simplified lay-ins so you can figure what make the likeness.
With a reference this shitty you're going to have to invent a lot to turn it into a decent painting. Good luck.

The smaller sketch I did on graph paper looked okay to me, so i put it on a grid just to be able to make it bigger easily, I knew I would lose some things in translation.
What is a lay-in?
Thank you much

you used grid on that shit and yet you still did symbol drawing with the eye.
