is it cheating or some how less efficient if I used the pen tool to go over my lineart/sketch in photoshop?
even on a cintiq with an app like lazynezumi or hejstylus, I still get some pretty crappy lines most of the time that I have to keep redoing so my line art looks clean.
I don't mind taking the time to get gud at something like this, but the problem is my school don't give a fuck about my desire to not rush and I constantly have deadlines to meet between six art classes every week.
nope, just get the job done and move forward

Isn't pen tool way slower than drawing by hand? Who cares if your lines aren't perfectly clean anyway while you try to get better at it?

No rules just tools.

some classes it doesn't matter, especially with organic subjects but my product design teacher gets pretty anal about it

Just means you suck at making lines. It's a skill to learn. Just learn it.

Drop that shit on Illustrator and pen tool the fuck out of it. It'll probably take you longer than just drawing the thing, but if you're any good at it it'll look better, especially for mechanical objects.
