Because much of 4chan in general falls into the "idiot" category of the populace, that only relates to art in a mindless way; Rothko paintings sell for millions of dollars, and this angers the brainless drone, because they fancy the absurd idea that had Rothko not made his own paintings, they could easily have made them in his place.

Anyone that prioritizes making a living from art, esteems realism and technical prowess over anything else, laments the fact contemporary art is not a series of caravaggio and rembrandt reproductions, and most tellingly, thinks "modern" art is just coloured squares are exactly the sort of people you should just smile and nod at. Feel good about the fact that no matter what this person experiences in their life, they'll still be a step below you on the evolutionary ladder.

Even graphic design isn't 100% "abstract stuff". Typography, for example, is by definition representational, as are any symbols, like traffic signs, "wet floor", etc. So the better part of graphic design is in fact not abstract at all, and the common peasant can't even appreciate what's left.
