Not much of a secret to be honest. They just key their colors really well, in a very controlled manner. The hues are all very close to each other, going from magenta, to reds, a little bit into yellows and that's it. You won't find a single hue on the figure that isn't keyed to this very narrow, warm tone, the only thing that changes a lot is the saturation. Then he adds a strong complimentary to the background and during the rendering, he introduces that complimentary color into the figure (sensibly, in the form of skylight hitting the forms) and vice versa, he adds subtle pink'ish color highlights from the figure into the background.

That's not a chinese secret but a fairly common technique used by lots of western painters as well.
>>
they are traditional painters and use the digital thingy like a pencil, then they boost it with effects

I'm pretty sure their works would be more impressive on oils

>>2629107
it's easier to keep your palette balanced the lower it is, that's why it's more appealing than random everythingshineslol digital art

he is not chinese but last night I saw some Norasuko's artworks and I said, wow! this is an amazing color technique. So I did put myself to see his youtube video-tutorials.

I trying to obtain tha same result but I can't reach it.
I know or almost I'm sure that he use photoshop. Maybe there is where I fail. I use paint tool SAI.

Anyway, i post this one. Yeah, I know the character looks wrong, but the color-technique is the matter here.
This is the best I can do
currently.

Any advice, or some color tutorial?

Soft edges when it should be hard and hard edges when it should be soft. It looks like an inflated human doll.

Just do studies of naked people, you have no understanding of planes and how they react to light, so it's impossible to teach you coloring before that step.

It's one thing to go in depth and detail on the theory behind any application come back after you demonstrate this detailed analysis of yours.
>>
>>2629239
It is a very basic concept executed at a high skill level. If you lack the skill level, then yes, of course your execution won't look nearly as good, but that doesn't somehow make this basic concept some kind of secret chinese coloring technique.

Can you tell me what exactly your problem is with what I said when I tried to explain how Krenz acheives his color harmony? Or is your argument literally that only if you are as good or better than Krenz can you attempt to explain how he does what he does?

Krenz is a Taiwanese artist. He's transitioned out of colorizing grey paintings, and now goes straight to color with an impressionist palette and approach.
>>
both Russians and Chinese are try to be better than use so the make better paintings and drawing.

they force them selves to do art even starve just for ones pleasure and Taiwan is just the same except their a society of freedom most democracys have lame cartoon art because of the free will they have its quite easy to stop doing art in western societies than it is in eastern societies because hard and self punishment is the culture .

its been that way since the ching dynasty.

You've got this autistic fuck, who only draws muslims propaganda with anime characters:

There's also Omar Dogan from Udon, who's competent but mostly draws really stiff, boring Street Fighter art.

>>
>>2638557
It's fake, autist. It's not even their drawings. Check fuckin angles of references and "drawings". Old photo of NK propaganda. They have thousand epic photos like this
>>
>>2638557
Atelier drawing isn't the answer to do what Chinese artists do. Unless it's Watts Atelier, you're gonna have sight-size bullshit that relies solely on reference. While knowing sight-size is good to make sure you're doing studies properly, that being the end-all be-all of your work really limits you. You need to develop an ability to draw forms from imagination and have a good understanding of the rest of the fundamentals, obviously you're still gonna rely a good chunk on reference it's not going to be an exact copy of something. As for color, I'm still learning that shit but, it seems like a lot of these dudes will analyze the palettes of master artists and also just look at ref/study human skin and see what colors are in there. There's no flesh tone, you'd be surprised what colors you can find in skin, I've found light purples and shit like that because the skin is reflective and also translucent.
>>
>>2638631
I also feel like I should reiterate on something, reference is HUGE. Some art is just blatantly taking shit too, so don't be afraid to "cheat" to help you learn more. Dudes will borrow compositions, borrow palettes, reference faces when doing faces, it's crazy what they'll do. Your art will level up much quicker anywya, since you're doing a study and a piece at the same time. If you feel bad for it, just don't show it off or mention what you utilized until you've gotten good enough to where it's not necessary. No reason to limit yourself.

Using desaturated colours makes the others look more saturated in comparison. Ruan does that a lot too, as do some of the other asian artists. What looks like gorgeous blues in their paintings is often just grey.
>>
>>2629092
Because you don't make blue color by taking blue color and paint, you take grey color and put little bit of blue on top of it.

when they say don't shade with grey it means don't just change the brightness of an object when you paint the shaded part, shift the hue and saturation too. So if you were painting a yellow object you might make the shadow part slightly orange with a little lower saturation. What we are talking about in this thread is keeping the overall saturation of your image lower.
