The "c" in /ic/ stands for critique, you have friends and family to pat you on the back.
Paint for yourself, because you love to paint. Any other motivation is not a good one. The only real question is - do you love to paint?

This board is full of people with a strong wish to "make it". A lot of envy, disrespect and that kind of feedback is pretty common on this board for that exact reason.

But still it is one of the nicest boards on 4chan, and full of very skilled people willing to help you. It's up to you to see through all the shit comments and not take it personally, and take in the comments that you feel are sincere.

/ic/ is the best forum I know of in drawing, but you have to have some tough skin to come here.
