I'm very new to drawing and as of recently my hands have begun to tremble after 20-30 minutes of practice. Normally I will just take a short break, do some practice exercises like drawing straight lines, and I will regain better control. That said, do you guys have any advice on how to avoid this problem in the first place? And what is the cause of it, tensing up my fingers/hand too much when holding a pencil?

Use Paint Tool SAI and increase the stabilizer like a madman. That's what everyone does.

Not sure how common this is, but if it only started recently that's more worrying than just having consistently shaky hands.
How severe are the tremors, does it affect your grip strength and does this only happen when you draw? It's worth checking periodically to make sure you aren't super tense or stressed, but if the tremors are bad enough it could be a nerve problem and you might want to see a doctor if it gets worse. Alternatively, if you're taking any medication, that could cause it as well.

Not OP, but I can't stand drawing with stabilizers, way too detached from my actual arm movement

I haven't drawn for three months because of tremors. It was very accute but constant for my part though. I still have tremors all the time, but it gets worse when agitated or tense/focused so I still don't draw. I use the time to think about the basics, what I have learned, where I left of, what I want to do later and things I want to change. habits etc I didn't notice when I was drawing every day.
I used to get tense before when drawing and playing instruments like my fingers get really tense and claw-like when I focus too much. like grinding teeth when you're thinking very hard and you're in the "zone". is that the same thing you get?
try not to loose yourself in the zone that much and keep loose fingers even while focusing mentally.

as far as i know Maciej Kuciara, cannot draw without using references.
drawing from imagination is a meme, it will take many years of doing same shit over and over to actually draw it from imagination perfectly.
Learn neuroscience/psychology and ur art will improve. Atleast for me it did

yeah, it will. it will also get you addicted and lead to all kinds of mental issues. those issues you'll only recognize after you've quit. source: been smoking continuously for the last 10-12 years but quit two years ago and so damn happy I did.
