No. Case closed.
instead ask yourself: is there chance of becoming popular by creating things people don't care about?
also if you paid attention you'd notice sergey has a per artwork model, meaning if he posts 4x a month he can make up to $2700, and $6750 if he spams 10 artworks.

I think he only release a painting a month. Imho, if he spammed 10 artworks per month, he might lose his patreon supporters.
If you're paid to create original content in a company, there are obviously people who would pay for it on Patreon. Just git gud.

he posts less than that. also when you sign up you decide what is the max amount of paintings you want to pay for in a month, and putting 1 is just like supporting per month but if they don't post anything that month you don't get charged

Yes, with webcomics.
I'm thinking of starting a patreon and appeal to people's pity to get subscribers with my absolutely amazingly depressing life story and my budget of 200 eurobucks a month
The other way is to start prostituting myself. I don't even know if I'll be able to pay rent at september

You can't just put out good art, you have to hit a market. If you're selling say pokemon fanart, you're gonna get bucks from pokemon fans. If your product is essentially "good art" you're only appealing to other artists.
You don't even have to make fanart. You can make your own IP, but you have to put it out there for people who would be interested in it.

Except a company hires people to make material that helps them sell books, films, etc, not just to sell random illustrations.

Not OP, but this thing about /ic/ is so silly.
There's no big eye-opener about "if you're fucking godly with extensive top of the industry experience you may have a shot at making money". Of course you gotta aim for the best, but if there's no market at all except for the very cream of the crop, that's just like saying there's no market.
I still have to see a competent, not godly top of the industry artist make enough money to live off his art without pandering hardcore.

People have been doing that since the dawn of man m8
