Why is it so fucking hard to find references for clothing drapery? There are dozens of books you can get with people in the nude or tight-fitting clothing in a huge variety of poses, but there doesn't seem to be any serious resources for more substantial costumes. Why can't I find a book of people photographed in costume? There has to be a market for such a thing.

Extremely limited range of body types, clothing styles and poses in catalogues. No pre-modern stuff, rarely any fatties or heavily muscled people, pretty much always photographed from the front just standing around.

Helpful if you just want any image, but a fucking nightmare if you want something specific. How much footage will you need to go through to find someone in a toga bending at the waist or whatever it is you need?

Probably the best option, but still rather inconvenient. I could just ask my friends to strip down to their underwear for anatomy studies, but there is still a market for photo references of people without clothing. Why not dressed up?

I feel you dude.
>Why is it so fucking hard to find references for clothing drapery?
It's not, quit being a lazy fuck and do some digging around. Google (girl/guy wearing ____) for specific clothing types, other wise just look for fashion photo shoots, and through the catalogs of clothing stores/brands. Also, the pic in the OP sucks because that's not what clothing looks like.

Do you only draw people in catalogue poses? Because that's basically what you get with that method.
Try to find me a side view of someone running in a knee-length, long-sleeved tunic, belted at the waist for example, using your method. It's a simple costume and a common pose from a conventional angle, but it's not something you are likely to get from google.
Here's a gallery of random costume photos which might be slightly useful.

http://www.posespace.com/ sells a collection of clothed images for $30, but it looks like it's a fairly limited selection for a somewhat steep price. They are high-res, multiple-angle reference images though.

Have you literally never seen stock image websites? Or deviantart stock accounts? They're filled with ninjas grimacing, fat dudes prancing about in togas and anorexic leatherbound chicks.
Or just draw real life materials. You lazy fuck.

It's hard because you are dumb.

ITT: 'I didn't bother to read your post, or understand what you are looking for, but you are stupid and lazy for not just googling it and finding some stuff which doesn't meet your requirements'.
I use a bunch of batch downloaders to get good refs of clothes. Ychan for ripping threads and boards here, there's a couple imgur rippers for grabbing reddits, and you can get a lot from tumblr downloaders. There's also torrents if you really need a lot of images. If you want to manually click stuff, a Firefox addon called saveimages lets you save all tabs to right quickly.
