Can we have a line confidence thread?
I'm very beginner and have been reading into Peter Han. If i'm understanding this correctly, I should just draw straight and arched lines all day?
Not all day, but if you're really having trouble with your line quality it'll definitely help to get some exercises in before you start drawing.
not all day, just a little bit everyday. You aren't in fucking drawing prison.
You do that anyways when drawing things. Pick challenging subjects (architecture, cars), be bold and use less lines (longer ones) to describe a shape.

Just don't do all lines in only one direction. Try towards you, to the right, to the left... The thing is to find the most comfortable position.
Also lock your wrist. The Scott Robertson book covers a little more exercises (ellipses, curves...).
If you want to draw a straight line, use a ruler or the shift key. duh.

Right and if you want to draw a circle just grab a can.

Or a compass.
Just do them as 15-30 minute warmups.
How to draw a line:
Step 1: draw the fucking line
get one good line, turn the paper. It's all in the shoulder and a little in the elbow for longer lines.

Good advice, don't use just your wrist. If you plant your elbow in a comfy position you can virtually just use the movement in your arm to draw a line or curve
What part of my hand should be sliding against the paper while drawing?
I'm confused as to how much of my hand should touch the paper.
Just the pinky knuckle?
The side of my palm?
Nothing?
Just use Lazy Nezumi.
It's $7 off this weekend!
