i feel like quitting art altogether
i'm currently in animation school and i'm constantly miserable. i draw for hours every day and i still feel so sad and empty.
i don't want to continue
i don't know how to fix this and i don't even know if i care enough to
>>2607228
But why are you sad.
>>2607228
Suck it up you fucking pussy
>>2607231
pursuing art is hopeless and i constantly feel inadequate
>>2607235
We then stop.
We're not your parents, do whatever you want to do because you're an adult. No need to complain to us, dumbass. Either quit art or don't. We don't care.
I gave up on art as a profession years ago, OP.
But giving up once doesn't mean giving up for good.
I still draw as a hobby and I think I'm still better now than I've ever been.
Maybe take a break from it.
Broaden your horizons and then come back to it when you've healed a bit.
Well if you went into art school then you must have enjoyed it at some point. What changed?
>>2607241
i think you might have the right idea here. thanks..
i do it professionally right now and its drained everything out of ime
then DRAW MOAR
also, if you're plateuing I reccomend you suscribe to New Masters Academy and check out Sheldon Borenstein, his stuff IMO the most beginner friendly, as well as useful to those who are struggling
He helped improve thats for sure, one of his best videos is on "the scribble"
Also, if you want to reduce some anxiety(which sounds like what you are going through) then attend one of the many great Ateliers and brick and mortar schools taught by ACTUAL professionals like Concept Design Academy, Watts Atelier, Brainstorm, LAAFA, Gnomon(not cheap, but likely get you a job quick) and many others, it'll save you a lot of money you'll get REAL experience and no need to take some stupid GE classes like HISTORY OF TACOS IN CINEMA

This is beautiful. Who's the artist?
>>2607238
you dont speak for all of us
>>2607314
Are you OP's parent, really? Like, really? Pinky-swear?
>>2607228
>Boo hoo I don't have a supermodl and a ferrari, people don't postrate themselves to me and give me atention!
Leave, we don't need more useless shits making art look bad.
Animation is not for divas, it's for people who cherish looking as their art come to life. People who actually love the art of animating.
If you're sad drawing then you will be sad doing an office job. Everything is hopless, you will feel inadequate about everything. Learn to live and love without purpose. Pursue buddhism?
>>2607228
youll be miserable even if you stop drawing n such
>>2607274
How does Sheldon work?
Listen to sensei bruh
>>2607228
>i draw for hours every day and i still feel so sad and empty.
Makes it sound like you're trying to fill a void.
There are a lot of factors at play. This probably goes deep. It doesn't mean that you should give up just yet.
What you could explore: journaling, meditation, therapy, more balanced lifestyle.
Good luck.

OP needs to tend to his soul
You are one of those students who:
Are lazy and thought drawing would be easy.
Thinks they will get better if they do the assignments and never take the lessons out of the classroom.
Is ignoring aspects of their fundamentals because, "I don't need this, I want to do that and only that".
Would you go into a restaurant, tell the cashier "I'm hungry" and expect some food? What do you want us to tell you? You came here with woe is me and nothing else. Do you want us to pat you on the back and suck your dick telling you everything will be okay?
What are you doing for "hours every day"? If I scribble on paper daily would you say I've practiced the same amount as someone who does targeted studies? Your skill as an artist depends on you and only you; If you are unsatisfied with your work and unwilling to put in the effort to get better, you only have yourself to blame.
All we can do is make assumptions.Give us more information so you can get help or fuck off already.
>>2607228
Join Last artist starting and just do that.
I don't understand why people are making so many stupid assumptions. OP don't take it too seriously when most people here cannot actually relate to you as many only do art as a hobby, and most of those who don't here likely have never been to art school.
OP, it could be the school environment. I dropped out of animation school and my mental health vastly improved, I got more motivation, I'm improving faster than my friends who are still in school. You could take a gap year. Maybe see a therapist.

Iron Giant animated film, go from there.

Try vitamin D senpai. That made my depression and depersonalization pretty much entirely go away. I feel so much better and just because I had my first physical with a blood test and found out I had extremely low vitamin D and got a script. Get a physical and check it out. Odds are you don't go outside enough or get it from food.

>i draw for hours every day
Could u post some of that here?
Open Learn C The Hard Way
Spend a whole day doing as many exercises as you can
Tell me, was that fun? No?
Then get back to drawing, coding, accounting and administration are much worse than what your doing now
>>2609641
also this
try getting out and talking to people. I got lost for a whole year after graduating from Art school. I have to be honest tho the deeper the depression the better work i came up with this is just my personal experience/perception. I don't mind feeling down because it gives me a chance to climb back up.

If you follow your feelings you'll end up working in a factory for shit pay while getting harassed by some sassy black manager who makes things up about what you do wrong. Then you can't do what you want because you're a debt slave, and you'll probably be paying child support without being able to see your kid on weekdays while they get raised by your white trash ex. So please stop saying the shitty meme phrase "Do what makes you happy."

Fuck off you heartless fuck, Anon came for advice, not to hear that we arnt his/her parents which I'm pretty sure they already know we're not.
