Ive been using SAI and Gimp for years because they are easy to use and understand and now I have to use CS6 for my course

Discipline.

Uninstall SAI and Gimp from your PC. You know you have to learn Photoshop, the only way you can do that is to only use Photoshop. Full immersion. Never use SAI or Gimp again.

SAI is just better. They are making SAI 2 now, and there's FireAlpaca and ClipStudio/MangaStudio which are in the same vein.

If you're doing image manipulation you should use PhotoShop, but it wasn't made specifically for drawing things, you know.
