With Breeding Season being in the recent news, it's made me go back to thinking about trying to make pixel art. Do any artists on /ic/ do pixelated art?
Who are some good artists to follow who do good pixel art? Beginning tips?

Oh I didn't see that, I'm sorry! Thank you!
Also FYI, shwigs stuff isnt really pixel art, its binary painting, something that simulates pixel art a little bit.

the breeding season art isnt really pixel art, it's just no anti aliasing

Pretty much, Skullgirls used the same method. I guess it's a type of HD spriting, makes the game images look high quality but still lets you change the color palette through code.
>What's the difference between Binary Painting and Pixel Art?
I guess size. Honestly pixel art in general's just pedantic about its definitions, there isn't much of a difference at all.

Actually they are two distinctly different disciplines. Being good at binary painting does not transfer completely to pixel art while there is some overlap. The inherent restrictions in pixel art requires a unique skillset in being able to abstract complex forms such as a human face into the clunky squares that pixels are. Being a good painter helps in becoming a good etcher, but you'll still have to learn the specifics of etching.

I think it basically comes down to the thought process of the art. Pixel art is art made out of pixels, thus the focus is own putting the pixels together in such a way that the pixels themselves look good while also making a desirable image.
In the OP image, there are ugly/dirty/jaggy lines if you look at it from an individual pixels standpoint. the drawing itself, the shading and whatnot aren't bad but it's the pixel art aspect that doesn't work because that simply wasn't part of the focus of the image. All that said, there are some instances here and there that overlap with pixel art, essentially the artist was actually "forced" to pay attention to the individual pixels in a few cases where they had to get small details. The eye for example is pixeled relatively well, and the eyelashes are made literally with individual pixels.

Study old vidya sprites.
And use GrafX2, give Paint a rest.
