Never use a ruler, and don't worry about being perfect.

You can draw a building loosely, and the perspective does not need to be perfect.

Morrowind and other bizarro world games usually have pretty interesting architecture to take inspiration from.

Simple answer: keep doing it and find fun things about it

Get turned on by the architecture. Get turned on with slowing your eyes down and appreciating the relationships between details. Get turned on with the process of slow-studying and getting into the mind of the architect, the usefulness of the details.

Look at architectural drawings for inspiration. There is a wide variety of representational methods used.

As with everything you have to think of the bigger forms before jumping into details.
Make big organic shapes at first and then start to break them up into smaller, more angular ones.

As the case is with so many beginner questions, the answer is practice and study until you get better. Your gonna need to be frustrated for a while until you either give up or get better.

What kind of construction methods you guys use? standard 2 / 3 point construction or something else?
