Enjoy always submitting old work you're probably no longer happy with instead of filling a large canvas with everything and submit that in a chunk. If you're struggling to keep up drawing every day so you need to keep back ups, you're the one who's never going to go anywhere, with or without LAS. This site was a blessing for you, if it weren't for the deadline you probably wouldn't draw nearly as frequently as you do now. When it ends you're probably going to go back to never improving.

Learn to schedule your day and something as simple as 2 hours of drawing every day is cake.

I don't know if anyone will read this or care but whatever I feel like typing. I've been playing videogames since I was like 3 years old (am 26) and don't plan on ever stopping but to me there are two kinds of games.

The first kind are games like Zelda, RPGs most retro games or whatever solo games you enjoy. Those are good because they don't stress you up, they're often very inspiring and they make you happy. Also you never feel like you HAVE to play these games, and although sometimes you might get upset at something difficult coming up it's still overall a nice feeling.

The second kind are games like MMO, League of Legends, competitive games by Blizzard (SC, HS, ...), stuff like CS and so on. Those are just plain shit, they're addictive and make you feel like you have to play them everyday or so otherwise "you are missing on something" or "you are getting behind". They're like drugs, and those you should ditch them out without any second thoughts.

It's true that now I'm spending more time working on art and other hobbies I have I found myself playing less than I used to, but when I do play I end up having a lot of fun, I really do feel like "playing", and not having some kind of side-job crushing my mental health and free-time to nothingness.

The competition topic will be announced on a saturday and you'll have all week to work on it. It'll be due on Friday and that weekly topic will also be the topic of the day for Friday. That way you'll only ever need to submit one image and you'll be able to participate in everything.

The difference with the competitions is that people will be able to vote for a winner. Only the people who've been an active submitter for 7 days in a row (same requirement as the tribunal) will be able to vote to minimize cheating. The winner will get a badge on their profile

Do you want the site to dwindle and die by the end of the year? We're losing people at a pretty steady rate, and without new people joining it wouldn't be very long before there were only a few left, and they might just quit because they feel like there's not much meaning in such a small competition.

But this also got me thinking, it would be cool to have an option on the gallery page to show only people from your week. It would probably feel more competitive that way.

I don't know if you're Lava but anyway even if LAS ends up dying one day that doesn't mean LAS has to end for good.

Right now could be "season 1". So for example, let's say LAS dies, then fine, put some kind of gallery showing who lasted more than the others, some winners, etc, then "close" the site for a week or so while hipping and promoting its re-overture for "season 2" (on /ici/).

My post is a mess but I hope it gives you some ideas to ponder on for the future.

I know that there are a lot of great artists on tumblr and dA, I'm just worried about it spreading there if we contact them at all. I guess there's no harm in having a bunch of bad preteens sharing the site, it would probably be good for them, but I want to avoid the worst case scenario of SJW artists coming here and bitching about some of the submissions. Possible reasons:
1. Comfort zone
2. If your try to draw good is humans but your helluvit drawings aren't humans, your brain probably has a stronger sense of incorrect and correct for humans than anything else and will see the mistakes in your humans more clearly.
3. You're erasing and redoing your good drawings to try to get to your ideal of it, which can make it feel disjointed if you don't rework the parts around your mistakes as well.
4. Who fucking knows, the shitty doodle type things always seem to get more popular than the ones you work hard on.

day 1: 5 sketches
day 2: 2 renders from my previous batch of 5

day 5: two renders from the current batch

repeat ad infinitum. Its about 4-10 hours a day, sometimes I have to take a day off because people are slow in getting sketch revisions to me. I specifically set up my schedule so theres a full day between sketches and inks so people have time to get revisions to me but some people are still too slow for that.

I am very fortunate in that the LAS switches over to the next day at 4pm PST. That means I can do one render before 4pm and post it forza and then keep working past 4pm and post the next render forza on the next day when I would just otherwise be posting some boring sketches or inks.

tl;dr as long as I don't get delayed by stuff, its staggered but it comes down to one picture a day with pretty standard full time work hours (expect I don't take weekends because I love drawing and breaks are for pussys)

The story on this is quite funny, one of my tools broke and there was ink all over the place so I wiped it on a random page and then I thought 'hey, this looks like a landscape' and retouched it.

We've been over this before and the goal of the site is to encourage people to draw every day. Half the entrants in LAS #2-6 are people who dropped out of #1 and rejoined and I've received a dozen messages (and seen dozens more in these threads) from people who are drawing now more than ever thanks to LAS.

I'd rather have that site than the one where it's just two anons battling for years to be the last artist standing while everyone stands around and watches (it's more likely they'll just forget about it.) Without the other challenges there wouldn't be anyone left to hype LAS #1.

I bet that once LAS #1 has been down to 2 people for a couple months everyone will be a lot more interested in the ~16 people left in LAS #2
