Photographer here,

How do I learn what is good and what is bad on an artistic level? I began photography as a creative outlet and now do it as a profession, I am technically sound and understand what makes a good image be it through technique or composition which I utilize to create work for monetary gain.

However, I never learnt how to look at my own images objectively and critique them objectively on an artistic level..

I am still very passionate about my photography and creating the best images possible for my clients but I do not know how to satisfy myself with my photography.

I have tried doing personal projects but when I look at the images I cant decide whether they are good or not..

How do I learn to critique my own images? Any books I could read?

Thanks

youre a photographer, not an artist. go on /p/ and leave the people who actually need to work hard and study alone.

Ive taken multiple classes in film photography and digital/photoshop, I know how to set exposure, hand process film, and make prints in the darkroom, I know how to prepare beautiful digital prints, its an integral part of my painting as I work with models and shoot referencs for my real work, hell i probably know more about photography than op, And I love it, but I stand by my statement

Study classic photographers, determine what makes their work great. Really, stop for a moment, and buy/download as many photobooks as possible, and start noticing patterns, differences in style, how they done this, etc. Then shoot as much as possible. You must learn to imagine clear idea of what you want to get and then achieve it as close as possible. Also, before you start to feel your own style, try different directions, every time breaking your comfort zone.
Shoot every fucking day as much as possible.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
