I've been really interested in pixel art and animation forever now, but I have no idea where/how to start
Any advice?
mspaint

Wait, sorry
Fundamentals of anatomy, light, shadow, form, perspective, etc etc etc
then mspaint

mspaint isn't a great program for pixel art really, there are many better alternatives and some of them are free

You obviously have not the slightest idea about pixelart.
>Mspaint
>No pallette management
>No multiple layers
>No pixel art dedicated tools
>Autistic ergonomics
>No miniature full-view sub window
>No tiling support
>No animation support

OP, Get real and download graphicsGale, grafx2 or something else.
Learn how to pallette, learn how to antialiasing, learn how to dithering and for fucks sake learn how to sprite.
Search tutorials online and git gud.
Yes, fundamentals help, but studying others' works help more.

You're implying quite a lot.
GraphicsGale is good though
