How do I draw good looking weapons and items just menus and such?

If you are worried about painting there is very little to it. Painting props is probably the easiest thing to paint. Notice that all these have a strong clean silhouette. Once you have that you just fill in a few details and patterns, hint at some textures and materials, and give it a tiny bit of form. You keep the lighting fairly simple and neutral, usually fairly diffuse, because you want to make sure the design reads clearly. If working digitally you can paint the silhouette on one layer, then paint within that shape using clipping masks. With this method you should be able to paint multiple designs each day no problem. They should be very fast to produce.

+ fancy texture brushes (and knowledge about applying them)
+ photoshop masks to make clean edges
= good art.

Sorry, but I don't see how painting those "good looking weapons" is different from painting good looking characters (like on pic related) or anything else really.

Reference and do studies of real weapons until you can draw them nicely. Then you can make shit up.
