Yes. Though not so much about Korea. And Japan was only ever considered by USA because they missed out on China.

Well, the first imagination for European conquest of China was dreamed up by Spaniards in the 16th Century (see >>993182). And I'd say it was nigh fucking impossible as China was still quite the power at the time. Spain alone had serious fucking problems fighting Chinese pirates in the Philippines. One warlord- Limahong- nearly ousted them from the Philippines. Pirates. Now imagine the Ming/1600's-1700's Qing Fucking Army.

Japan was also considered but the warrior class there and the fighting turned the Spaniards & Portuguese off.

You could say any realistic conquering of East Asia was only achieved by the 19th Century, but then priorities changed: it was now just selling shit to China and not acquiring China. Though the spastic German Emperor, Wilhelm II, and his nationalist buddies imagined a "German India" in China.

Though how he would achieve this when his Officers and Weapons producers were making wicked profit selling Mausers n' Howitzers to China not to mention TRAINING CHINA'S OWN FUCKING ARMY is one thing I don't know.

USA wanted Japan for a base to trade with China but they were Cockblocked by their civil war. They came back: Japan was modernized, and it was a no go, settling for stealing Spain's spot in Asia instead.
