Pretty much, there were probably some knights lower down in the pecking order that had Anglo Saxon lineage. I think the man Robin Hood is based off was an Anglo Saxon lord in the north but I could be confusing two different stories.

This is wrong. There was actually a fair bit of social mobility in medieval england, especially during the time of the hundred years war. A freeman who simply acquired a certain amount of land would be considered a gentleman, and from there he could be knighted. This is in contrast to France where nobility and knighthood were considered to be deeply connected to ancestry and where there was basically no social mobility.

Nationalism was less important than one's oaths in the middle ages. Ultimately, great dynasties like the Bourbon, Plantagenet, even Hapsburg (in later years) were that day's nations.

Even in the popular entertainment of the day(Shakespeare), Kings called each other cousin. So yes, it is likely 'English' Knights were probably Norman, Danish, Teutonic, etc.
