Depends. Numbers from sound methodology are pretty good bets, though you should read for bias.

OP do you have a flavor to your recently-discovered interest? Did a certain era/event/person/etc. serve as the spark? A generic interest in history is easily fed but most people approach the subject from a specific point of view and branch out later - if that is the case then the tinder used for your fire will be important. For example, I started enjoying history when I went to Gettysburg at around 12. I still focus on military history but I mostly study the "Long 19th Century" in Europe.

OP you don't start anywhere.You find something that interests you and read about it.Find a time period that you like and read about it.I guess you could just start on wikipedia for some light stuff.I for example started having an interest in history when I was very young.I had a larrousse encyclopedia about ancient Egypt.Loved that thing and gained a fascination for ancient civilizations from it
