I would take everything military historians say with a grain of salt. People take great pride in military achievements and many are prone to deduction over induction.
If you are on the other hand just interested in strategy I would look at the backbone of any military - logistics. With Sun Tsu you already started off pretty strong but for modern warfare it has to be expanded on.
