Romans had such amazing names:

Septimius
Severus
Julius
Augustus
Marcus
Commodus
Aurelius
Clodius
Albinus
Flavius
Gaius

My wife is going to have a son in September, would it be too cringey to name him after one of these?
>>
call him gaius so his friends can call him gay like his dad
>>
>everything ends in -us
garbage
at least greek names had variation

First one and the last three are a no go, the rest seem alright. Like the idea, haven't had a kid but if I did I'd look into roman names

From what I've noticed, Augustus works pretty well today. Met a lot of black people named that way.
>>

Commodus was horrible so don't name him that
Marcus and Julius are the only legit first names still cringy
Aurelius and flavius are legit second names not as cringy as you won't have to yell this at your kids
Septimius only if he is your seventh son
Just don't overdo it otherwise you'll look like one of those black people who mame their children Caesara and shit but couldn't show on a map where Rome is.

Severus
Severe
Severum
Severi
Severo
Severo

Is all the same name.
>>
>>847377
It's pronounced "sharl"
>>
>>849188
from wiki
>Septimus is the Latin word for seventh, and the name belongs to the same class as the masculine praenomina Quintus, Sextus, Octavius, Nonus, and Decimus, as well as the feminine names Prima, Secunda, Tertia, Quarta, Quinta, Sexta, Octavia, Nona, and Decima.

>Originally, the praenomen was probably used for a seventh child, seventh son, or seventh daughter. However, it has also been postulated that such names referred to the month of the year in which a child was born. This explanation does not seem to account for the relative scarcity of Septimus, Octavius, or Nonus; but because parents were generally free to choose any name they wished, irrespective of its meaning, it may have been used for either reason.

Lots of names now considered girls' names were originally male-only: Shirley, Hillary, Alexis, Morgan, Ashley, Dana, Kelsey, Meredith, Sandy, Kim, Lauren, Lesley, Stacy, Sydney, Taylor, etc.

All these names were almost 100% male in 1880, and approaching 0% now.

Meredith Belbin (born 1926), British management theorist (male)
Meredith Davies (1922–2005), British conductor (male)
Meredith Frampton, (1894–1984), British painter (male)
Meredith Poindexter Gentry (1809–1866), U.S. politician (male)
Meredith Hunter, American man killed at the Altamont Free Concert (male)
Meredith Willson, American composer, songwriter, conductor, and playwright (male)
O. Meredith Wilson, former President of the University of Minnesota (male)

It's apparently a welsh male name that became female out of Britain.

Call him Constantine, or Justinian.
By God, not Justin, full name, JUSTINIAN.

Personally i'd name my first son Constantine, and my first daughter, Theodora (such a great name)

If I ever have sons I'll call them Alexander and Julian.

Alexander has always been a popular name with Scottish nobility,especially with historical chieftans of my family so it goes pretty well with the surname.
>>
>>857992
Alexander is an overused name.
I can think of 20 people i know called Alexander off the top of my head.

Severus just makes me think of Snape from HP.
>>
>>831764
Just use the modernized versions you dumb cunt, otherwise he's gonna get bullied to death for ever. For example here it would be
Julius = Julij
Severus = Sever
Primus = Primož
Septimus = lol no one has 7 kids these days
Augustus = Avgust (it's cringey though)
Marcus = Mark
Commodus = I'll name my son after a raving psycho :DDD
Aurelius = Avrelij
Clodius = N/A
Albinus = Albin
Flavius = Flavij
Gaius = Gaj
Some of these are relatively common (Gaj, Albin, Mark, Primož, Julij), some are completely retarded (Sever, Avgust, Flavij, etc) and I imagine it's the same in english, so just figure a relatively common modernization and roll with that.

Justin was a name too.
>>
>>858388
It just sounds similar. Fedora is russian for Theodora, like Fyodor for Theodor. I wouldn't name my daughter that though, russian equivalent sounds kinda like a babushka's name.

I had a biology teacher in school, everybody (even some teachers who were not old yet) secretly called her Fedora because her patronymic name was Fyodorovna. She was one real fucking hag and hated when students had fun. If you're smiling, then you're a rascal and must be ignominiously banished to the principal's office, that was her way of doing things.
So the name gives me bad flashbacks. Also my friend called her The Red Bastion because she used to dye her hair red and was quite sturdy. Theodora the Red Bastion sounds like some legendary shit.
