CIA is more for external affairs, at least in the post-Cold War era. As far as internal secret police goes in the US, it would probably be more a collaboration between FBI and NSA.

it's really cool that we are able to find out how much they actually looked into people, without them and the fall of the Berlin wall we would have never really figured how much it was possible for secret police with a lot of spare time to figure out about their residences.

especially in a city like east Berlin, seems spooky that they had almost a file for everyone living there.
