I don't know why this is trolling people: it's partially correct. The Tercio wasn't this unique speshul Spanish thing to begin with. A lot of cunts from Europe to Japan was using pike and shot warfare. Though war in the Chinese frontier was still dominated by Cavalry, this doesn't mean the infantry was neglected due to fighting within China/South of it.

Horse archery isn't a super weapons. Infantry squares with organic missile wepaons are extremely dangerous to steppe nomads, and the byzantines wrote about doing exactly that to stop them.
