Which historical period had the best aesthetic?

I gotta say the 80s. I just love the whole "futuristic" look everything had.

Tudor age

I'd say the modern age is actually pretty aesthetic.

It has minimalist high tech yet classic styles are appreciated, in a strange mix.

And Stuart for that matter

80s definitely has a retro appeal to it.
>>
>>372311
The 80s is comfy as fuck. Had just the right balance of futuristic optimism and actual technology. Plus the big hair thing was awesome.
>>
>>373204
it had the best movies too. That might be a nostalgia thing though.
>>
>>372379
i love the 80s bros

>>373223
>That might be a nostalgia thing though
it is
after a marathon watching Fox Classics i realized there was a lot of 50s nostalgia in the 80s, at least in movies and music
but yeah, "where's muh domestic robots and hoverboards" right?
>>
>>373243
I sorta miss that earnest feeling in action movies. I just watched Rambo part 2 and 3, and having them blow up gommies and not have any moral dilemma was refreshing.

First Blood is still the GOAT though/
>>
>>372419
Vaporwave has nothing to do with 80s actually, it's more based on the idiotic 90s web 1.0 esthetics and combined with utterly nonsensical memes.

New retro / synthwave is where the true 80s fetishism is and it's more rooted in the budget action films than actual 80s lifestyles.

Synthwave is definitely better than vaporwave/futurefunk/a e s t h e t i c memery.

Jeasus, I want one of them as a mother to me.
>>
>>373254
yeah, Rambo is the shit
and now that you mention it, Lethal Weapon and many other movies wouldn't have the same impact if the main charas aren't Viet war veterans

>>373267
new retro synthwave is anachronic though. the drum beats they use are from 2000, compare your video to this original:

i would say new retro, chiptune and vaporwave are their own thing

I love synthwave and horror synth because even though I was born in '86 and never really experienced the 80s on my own, I still grew up on watching all those meme action and horror films so listening to this kind of music is an immense nostalgia trip. Not even trying to be a hipster or anything, it just happens to deliver some warm fuzzy feels.

There's even new retro films catering to precisely this sort of audience, like It Follows or The Guest.

well, they call their style "synthwave", they should either choose a new name or respect the original? they are their own thing after all

btw i googled that in the 80s there was a transition between modernist and postmodernist architecture. i had to google it to make sure because i remember my hometown being modernist as fuck. many houses and buildings had that "golden rectangle" thing going on all the time
>>
>>373390

That's the same of logic as saying all hiphop that doesn't sound like Run DMC isn't real hiphop.

Totally agree with this. Quit jacking off to synthwave and start listening to Italo Disco and/or EBM
