Is the Brusilov offensive the most impressive feat in Russian military history?

No, I think that would be operation Bagration.

Soviet =/= Russian

what made Brusilov's offensive so impressive?
AFAIK it only crushed Austro-Hungarians who were alread weak and German focus was on Verdun and the Western Front.

Russians actually shat themselves in Bulgaria. And what's more impressive they got wrecked with cavalry which was thought to be obsolete. Ivan Kolev the Bulgarian commander was a genius of tactics. He used the fast and mobile horses not as they previously were used as heavy hitters but rather has ambush troops. He would order a charge then a retreat and when the Russians gave chase they got in the middle of a fortified machine gun crescent, when they ran the cavalry charged again and slaughtered the retreating ruskies. And bear in mind this is only 30 years after the Russians supposedly freed Bulgaria from the Ottomans.
