Pants came into fashion because pants became popular in the army and frontier servicemen as the gradual melding of Germanic and Roman culture fused. In the provinces most subject to the frontier, the warlords who eventually took control had Germanic fashion, which included trousers. If you wanted to emulate power in those regions, you carried a sword in public, had been buried with weapons and jewelry, and you wore pants.

Pants are harder to make than skirts, but once you know how to make real pants they are superior.

Pants were used by horse riders since pants are more practical when riding a horse. That's why Scythians and Persians wore them.

Saying kilts were invented in the 15th century is like saying pants were invented in the 19th century. The Celtic peoples who lived before the 15th century wore things that were very much like kilts

You're conflating around 1800 years of history here anon.

The pre-modern kilt is actually very good in the colder Scottish Highlands because you can bundle it up and wrap yourself in it like a blanket. They were very thick, very long multi purpose garments, you shouldn't confuse them with the small, thin tunics the Romans wore.

Romans started wearing pants in a widespread capacity around the end of the 2nd century AD, centuries after the establishment of the equestrian class. My own theory is that the military started wearing them in colder climates to begin with and the fashion trickled downward from there.

Notably cloaks also become very popular with Romans around this time as well, again beginning as a military garment before being adopted by civilians.

The Greeks by this period were pretty much completely Romanized and wouldn't have had any negative opinions about pants that the Romans themselves didn't have.
