So, now with the benefit of hindsight, was the Falkland War really in any way worth it to anyone?
It was worth a fuckton to Margaret Thatcher.
And I supposed it gave the British brand a boost, showing the world they could still kick shit when motivated properly, even if their enemy was short bus-tier.

Destroyed Argentine militarism, to the great benefit of South America generally.

Don't you think that would've imploded in a decade if we'd just left it alone? It was laughably unsustainable.
It benefited the future populist governments of Argentina

No war vs UK= war vs Chile
Very likely to be much bloodier and involve neighbors

Yes, to the islanders.
They went from being ignored second-class colonials that needed their passports stamped to visit London, to becoming full citizens with massive British investment into the island particularly in infraestructure and oil exploration becoming one of the wealthiest jurisdictions in the world.
Before the war, Argentina sent teachers, subsidized oil, and built the only runway on the island. The islanders had to fly to Buenos Aires for surgery or medical attention. After the war the islanders got everything they needed from Britain, and twice that, going from being a ignored backwater to Britain's most proudest and coddled territory.
Argentina shot itself in the foot, really.
In the words of Rex Hunt, "had the war not happened the islands would in all likelyhood be Argentine by now". But now Britain turned the 2,000 islanders living there into their richest overseas territory out of spite.

How? Cristina was voted out of office in no small part due to the Falklands bullshit. Nobody wants to antagonize Britain over it.
Every other administration (free market reformist governments which can hardly be called populist) has sought accomodation with Britain. You don't seem to know what you are talking about.
>No war vs UK= war vs Chile
Extremely doubtful for a multitude of reasons.

>voted out of office
She finished her term, both Kirchners used Malvinas image as a way to unify their lower class voting base.
Fuera Piratas, Malvinas graffiti
Galtieri wanted (needed) a fight and things were escalating with Chile.

>She finished her term
Her candidate lost.
>both Kirchners used Malvinas image as a way to unify their lower class voting base.
Yes, at the expense of Middle Class voters which is the vasy majority of the country. Cristina Kirchner has a 61% negative image, only 25% positive.
>Galtieri wanted (needed) a fight and things were escalating with Chile.
Wrong. Galtieri invaded the Falklands because he wanted a cheap political victory. He didn't expect it to turn into a war. (He was a retard but that is another matter entirely)

Isn't the entire population of the islands still less than some American small towns? Do they have, like, multiple story buildings?
