Why did the Majoos make Aramaic the official language of their empire and make Babylon their administrative capital? Were they that ashamed of their own culture and language that they chose to make a foreign language their official language and a conquered foreign city their centre?
>>3366317
it's called being pragmatic dumbass
>>3366317
Fucking retard, Aramaic was the court language of the Assyrian Empire, the language of trade. The Persians adopted Aramaic also for this purpose. Why do the Parsi speak Farsi?
>>3366317
Majoos?
>>3366345
Magus. AKA Magi AKA the heralds of Christ AKA 3 Wise men.
>>3366340
Yeah but Aramaic was the language of the Assyrians so it makes sense that the Assyrians would use it. Why didn't the Persians use their own language as the official language of the empire? I think they are ashamed of their own culture.
Like how today every majoosi in the west goes "I'm not Iranian, I'm Persian" or something like that
>>3366317
Because "official language" back then just means language of the administration, ie the cucked men of the pen your mighty warriors bully into managing their possesions. So it was natural that the language of bureucrats was the language of the cucked mesopotamians, not the persian warrior.
In a similar fashion, ironically, persian was the language of the administration in many turkish states.
>>3366358
It wasn't the language of the asyrians before they adopted it.
>>3366358
Assyrians used it as court language you stupid retard.
>>3366368
Assyrian, Akkadian, same thing, dialects of the same language
>>3366379
Aramaic was used in Afghanistan, it was a trade/court language, like English is used today. Aramaic was the predecessor to Latin, as Latin was the predecessor to English.
Mesopotamia was the biggest tax asset of the empire and held one of the capitals. It's only natural that it was where the administration was centered
>>3366348
That's interesting, so the biblichal three wise men are Persians? Now that I think about their early Christian and Byzantine illustrations do depict them in Iranic costume
>>3366379
Akkadian is not aramaic. Assyrian and akkadian aren't the same either.
>>3366403
They're dialects of the same language
>>3366397
No. Magi in this context actually refers to Zoroastrians. It's a Muslim excuse too tax them instead of slaughtering them by claiming they worship Allah too. That's why he said Majoos, because Muzzies can't be bothered to translate when English has established terms for this, nor even use the accepted spelling of Magus. By the way the association of Zoroastrians as Magi is where we get "magic" since the Zoroastrian priests were the actual magi
>>3366317
>Majoos
Fuck off.
>make Aramaic the official language of their empire
It was the official language of trade and administration and the Persians specifically used Imperial Aramaic dialect since the majority of people in Western Asia and the Levant along with Mesopotamia outside of Iran spoke Aramaic which makes it practical.
>Babylon their administrative capital
The Achaemenids had multiple capitals which included Susa, Ectabana, Parsagarde, and Persepolis depending on the weather and climate during the year.
>Were they that ashamed of their own culture and language
No, you tazi piece of shit.
>>3366424
Why do you say Allah instead of God if you complain about not translating words to English?
>>3366363
Lol ar*bs used Persian as their common language when they 'took over' the area centuries later.
