Spain suffered the consequences of a war, but it was its civil war and not World War II, and that was what the Marshall Money was for: rebuilding the countries that took part in it and to wear off communist influence (which was pretty low in Spain at the time).
As far as I remember Spain benefited partially from relations with the US in the 60s during the Spanish Miracle after showing allegiance to the U.S. during the Cold War because Franco hated communists.

The USA needed revitalized european markets to sell their over-produced shit and most of all they had to make sure the defeated and weakened countries didn't fall prey of communism. 1. Because the Soviets were on their doorstep.

2. They didnt want a repeat of what happened after WW1 where the allies (france) pretty much trampled Germany into the ground and kept them there untill Hitler. And if Germany ever were to become a large power again. they wanted to make sure Germany were on their side against the Soviet.

3. USA made a shitloads of money of WW2 and would make even more money post war. With Europe bombed to bits and most of it's industry in ruins, the only real industry left in the west was USA, maybe some virtue signaling on their part.

Didn't a lot of British lend-lease debt get forgiven? If so did that factor into the "relief" figures?
