The first was a conspiracy between Caesar, Crassus, and Pompei to consolidate power in the Roman Republic, the Second was Octavius, Lepidus, and Antony to continue on that. They were crucial to formation of Imperial Rome. What piss poor excuse of a school did you graduate from?

Pompei was also a great general, and had the backing of most of the Roman nobility
Crassus was the wealthiest man in all of Rome, but got himself killed in a war against Parthia.
What stopped the first triumvirate was a civil war between Caesar and Pompei, and Caesar's eventual assassination.
The second triumvirate wasn't stopped and Octavius became Augustus after his civil war with the other two.
