I would go to "lost" periods of history with little written accounts and record what happened. Yes I know I can't speak or write ancient languages but for the situations sake say I can. I would also try and witness historical events just to see how much propaganda was involved to change the event.

Probably test the waters starting in 1900 and keep on observing until 1945. Like the other anon said, I'd try more obscure or less understood periods of time to fill the gap in historical knowledge. Assuming I have the resources and time, I'd eventually try and meddle at some point with the outcome of events, likely during WWI. The Second Reich was too based to die to the Entente and socialist rebels.
