Are you serious? Hungary is among the top 10 LOWEST in the world, between Taiwan and Serbia. Serbia is below Italy. Romania (as well as Portugal) is below Austria and South Korea.
Bosnia is in the bottom 3 sandwiched between Germany and Japan. Croatia is between South Korea and fucking Singapore (to be fair Singapore would be the lowest in the world if it wasn't for the Malays and other fertile minorities)
Poland is below Spain and Switzerland. The Czech Republic is below Denmark, Slovenia is below the Netherlands. Moldova, Macedonia, Ukraine are below Finland. Slovakia, Lithuania, Belarus, Montenegro etc etc, and all the above, are all below Sweden, Norway, France, the UK, Australia...

Source: literally any demographic atlas, although I'm using the OECD 2011 numbers in particular. It doesn't vary across sources anyway.

Basically the most inoffensive liberal democracies, though they're strongly insular (heh) and communitarian organically, they never tried do something stupid like forcing totalitarianism and ethnonationalism (or radical egalitarianism for that matter) on a former imperialist power.

There is no escape. The benefit of democracy is that the transition is relatively peaceful, whereas the alternative is that you constantly have civil wars like in Africa or the Middle-East.

That's about the same as some minorities in Russia, France, Britain... Of course it has a major impact, but the European population itself has a respectable birthrate too. Here's from an article (complaining about a recent sharp drop in national birth rates):

They show that fertility rates in the three years centred on the census were above replacement rates for Pacific women (2.73) and Maori women (2.49), but below replacement for European women (1.92) and Asian women (1.69).

Northland, with 2.55 births per woman, displaced Gisborne as the region with the highest fertility rate, reflecting the fact that 30 per cent of Northlanders are Maori.

Nationally, the fertility rates for Maori women under 25 were more than double those of the general population. However, the Maori rates were below the national average for women in their 30s."
They're low by world averages but far above the typical Western and Eastern Europe rates. Even the Asians have uncharacteristically high birth rates (maybe those are more Filipinos and less Chinese, I dunno.)

Furthermore, the European New Zealander fertility rate is just equal to the Icelandic fertility rate for 2013, at 1.93
It too had only dropped below replacement level in 2013.

And yes, of course Ireland and Iceland (and New Zealand, in a subtler beige way) are "socially conservative" or rather communitarian (they certainly aren't more conservative than any slav or southern euro.) The point is that they're not authoritarian, it's something that happened quite organically.
