ITT little lessons in trickery that went down in history

>Hero of the Soviet Union recipient T. Kuznetsov survived the crash of his Il-2 in 1942 when shot down returning from a reconnaissance mission. Kuznetsov was able to escape from the wreck and hide nearby. To his surprise, a German Bf 109 landed near the crash site and the pilot began to investigate the wrecked Il-2 possibly to assist Kuznetsov or to look for souvenirs. Thinking quickly, Kuznetsov ran to the German fighter and used it to fly home, barely avoiding being shot down by Soviet fighters in the process.

All planes have the same controls :^)
>>
>>3324863
He could have probably flown the Bf 109 before. For e.g Yevgeniy Yakovlevich Savitzky, Soviet ace with 22 victories had found 3 abandoned Bf 109s and later used them for reconnaisance.
>>
>>3324863
Well, yeah, they pretty much did in the 1940's
>>
>>3324863
As if a sub human russian could fly a state of the art aircraft of the Luftwaffe. It's all propaganda, don't believe it. The BF 109 was 20 years ahead of anything the russians had
>>
>>3324954
>Implying the IL-2 wasn't 40 years ahead
>>
>>3324954
>underestimating your enemies
And this is exactly why the Germans lost.
>>3324965
Il-2 was one tough motherfucker. It was completely armored from back to front. The Germans named it Concrete Bomber because of its resilience.

During the East Africa campaign of WW1, the Schutztruppe of Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck relied heavily on local wells for obtaining drinking water when carrying out guerilla raids against British railways. British intelligence officer Richard Meinertzhagen decided that it would be prudent to poison these wells, to deprive Lettow-Vorbeck's forces of drinkable water while conducting raids. However, he was declined permission to do so as the British government felt that poisoning wells was against the rules of "civilized warfare."

Meinertzhagen eventually came up with a solution. Instead of poisoning the wells, he went around an putting up signs next to all the wells in the relevant area. The signs read "DANGER: POISON" in German language. To complete the illusion, Meinertzhagen surrounded many of the wells with the corpses of dead animals, giving the impression that they had been killed by poisoned water. The effect was the same as if the wells had actually been poisoned; Schutztruppe men were afraid to drink water from these wells, and many died from dehydration. By this simple deceptive action, hundreds of miles of British railways were instantly made safe from attack.

It is worth noting that Meinertzhagen has become infamous for lying in his memoirs. Intelligence officers aren't even supposed to keep diaries in the first place, for obvious reasons. Everything written by him must be read with a healthy dose of skepticism. For example, he eventually claimed to have met with Hitler in 1938, narrowly missing an opportunity to assassinate the Fuhrer and prevent the Second World War. However, this particular story is very likely truthful, as Lettow-Vorbeck wrote in his own journals about this same incident (although he naturally believed the wells to have been genuinely poisoned).

Meinertzhagen was such a fucking madman
>>
>>3325079
Literally. He was probably a murderer.
>>
>>3325094
I really hope the story about him meeting Hitler and saying "Heil Meinertzhagen!" is true
>>
>>3325102

Probably not, because why would Hitler "heil" himself?
>>
>>3325114
Because he was autistic?

>Fritz Klingenberg (17 December 1912 – 23 March 1945) was a German officer in the Waffen-SS who served with the SS Division Das Reich and was a commander of the SS Division Götz von Berlichingen.

>In early 1941 Klingenberg was with SS troops taking part in the invasion of Yugoslavia . The objective was to push into Yugoslavia quickly, to then attack Greece. Klingenburg disobeyed orders, and decided to reconnitor Belgrade, with his units far ahead of the main German army. Finding a boat, he made across the river, with the intention of ferrying a sizable force across, however, the boat sank, and he was left with just six men. Klingenberg, then encountered some Yugoslav troops, who had captured a drunk German tourist, whom they in turn captured. After a number of firefights, the 6 Germans, having sustained no casualties but captured a number of yugoslave soldiers, made it to the centre of Belgrade, with the tourist, and their prisoners.

>There they raised a German flag. The Mayor came out to meet them, after Klingenberg bluffed, telling him there was an incoming artillery barrage, and an impending Luftwaffe attack. The Mayor surrendered the city to them on the 13 April. At this point a few more of Klingenberg's men arrived the same way he had, and made a show of their presence, pretending that there was more of them than there were.[3] [4][5] The German army eventually arrived, dumfounded at the situation, having made a complex plan that was expected to cost thousands of lives to take the city that was no longer needed. [1][2] [6] A few days later Yugoslavia surrendered.[1][2]. Klingenberg was awarded the Knights cross for capturing the city, in effect capturing Belgrade with just 6 men.

He didn't "Heil" himself on other occasions. Why would he do it when meeting with a British intelligence officer? Furthermore, why would the Fuhrer consent to being alone in a room with a British intelligence officer? Also, Meinertzhagen said that he had a pistol with him during this supposed meeting. So in 1938, a British man was allowed to meet with the Fuhrer, alone, without even being searched for weapons? It seems rather unlikely.

>playing IL2: Sturmovik

>flak shoots my whole squadron to shit in the assault
>sole survivor
>flying back to airfield
>get bounced by two bf109's
>they shoot the shit out of the IL2 until they run out of bullets, killing the rear gunner
>manage to fly back and land it belly up with no gear and seeing daylight though the floor, the wings and the tail and the engine dying

They dont call it the flying tank for nothing

Belgrade was ready to surrender to anyone who appeared, the country was defeated already, the defeatism was ungodly.

That guy who milked the Third Reich for millions of dollars in pay for the families of dead spies who never existed in the first place. The Abwehr was arguably the most retarded intelligence agency to ever operate in a major war, or in general.
