Wasn't the Brits who beat us. Only meaningful military thing they did was being a vague annoyance in the Spanish ulcer. Everything else, it was the Russians, with Prussian help later.
Though, it's true that the war only kept going because of their obsession with balance of power on the continent. Europe could have been at peace and more glorious than ever before, but no, they had to ruin it for everyone else.

You and a ton of men go to take a city full of gold for the Empire
Generals fight and the best runs off
You decide to storm the city and end it fast
End up getting half the fleet destroyed and end up cornered
Turns into a huge stalemate with both sides building walls and counter walls
second general gets himself killed in battle
Last general sends message to say hes going to need a new fleet to win the war
Gets more ton more ships
Loses them
Goes to fight the enemy
Eclipse happens

You do know that the Gallic War was largely a propaganda piece by Caesar. I'm sure that the Romans were greatly outnumbered by the Gauls but I'm fairly certain that the Romans exaggerated the size of the opposition.

I agree with this but i think the "nation of bankers" and their economic sanctions as well as the bolstering of Napoleon's enemies did a lot for Napoleon's eventual downfall.
I always hear about how people over estimate the military impression the English had during this time but i think the naval aspect as well as the economic one is something Napoleon couldn't counter (and hence why he invaded Russia in the first place).
