Christianity was established in an empire with vast networks which made travel and spreading of information relatively easy to do. It also structured itself after the roman imperial bureaucracy and happened to get started at the height of the mystery cults in the roman empire.

Paganism thrived for millenias. Inevitable however all things end and new cults and religious ideas gained enough influence to push the old ways into the periphery where they slowly decline into non-existance.
