Why do people give the CCP's authoritarian state capitalism

Why do people give the CCP's authoritarian state capitalism so much credit for China's economic prosperity, when compared to other economies of "Oriental" countries like Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, they're lagging behind? Doesn't it show rather that the CCP is actually holding China back? Heck even Malaysia is doing better, about all China can really say proudly is that they're better off than India and Vietnam.
>>
>>3315094
>Singapore
>South Korea
>not authoritarian state capitalist societies

kys watashi no tomodachi
>>
>>3315094
Taiwan was an authoritarian state capitalist society for most of its existence as well
>>
>>3315094
Because it's a lot better than it used to be and GDP per capita doesn't matter as much to a country of over a billion people whose quality of life the government doesn't really care about as much as other developed nations.
>>
>>3315094
>Get billions of free foreign aid
>Literally gets another country to foot your defense funding
>See this proves that capitalism is better!

Also every one of those states were authoritarian state capitalism.
>>
>>3315094
China is a huge diverse country, so it is unfair to compare them with smaller nations, instead you should compare countries with different regions in China.
Tho to answer your question.
>Why do people give the CCP's authoritarian state capitalism so much credit for China's economic prosperity
Because they have been the ruling goverment during this prosperity? But I agree, praising the CCP for the development rather than the reforms that actually go back to the late Qing Dynasty, Nanjing Decade and Deng Xiaoping is a bit dishonest. Infact one can argue that the CCP DID hold China back, with its very much retarded reforms.
>blaming Confucianism for slowing down modernizations yet confucian societies like Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore have succedded while 95% of every non western country have failed.
China would have been more prosperious earlier if not of the Communists, but at least Deng's reforms was a step in the right direction that should have come earlier.

Also I guess because while the West digs itself further into the Socialists trap they need to have a prime example of a succesfull Communist state, China being the only one.
Meanwhile China is going the complete oposite route in certant aspect with founding of Confucian schools and youth that become incresingly conservating and anti-democratic.
>>
>>3315126
its not unfair, its just very accurate, like trying to compare management policies for Russia with Switzerland
>>
>>3315100
they are far more democratic, unless you believe in meme conspiracy theories
>>
>>3315127
Very accurate how?
Management policies differ widly from a large state to a small one
>>
>>3315100
South Korea is more like a megacorporate monopoly plutocratic wonderland.
>>
>>3315094
You're forgetting that China is FUCKING MASSIVE and how much of a difference that makes

A small state with a small population can become very good very quickly, a giant state with a giant population cannot do it at the same speed.
>>
>>3315157
And then there's the United States.
>>
China proves that capitalism = wealth, not democracy.
>>
>>3315161
Most of its population and wealth is compacted into coastal regions, it has also delighted in three centuries of top-notch capital development
>>
China's already got a gdp per capita of $8k?

Sheesh that was quick. I remember it hovering around sub $5k levels for the longest time and people saying it will go nowhere but down. I guess the memes about the emerging Chinese middle class are real.

>Singapore has a little corruption therefore it is less democratic than China
Singapore has actually had elections whereas China at best has only had meme elections where the communist party gets 110% of the vote. If you unironically believe China is more democratic you are severely spooked.
>>
>>3315340
Singapore actually takes a very hard line against corruption. They don't mind gerrymandering though.
>>
>>3315340
The point I am trying to make is Singapore has meme elections too. It is having one next month
>>
>>3315094
Japan/SK/Singapore/HK/Taiwan all have support of western countries.

China's growth is also due to western power support, yet it is not acknowledged as that would mean shitting on our own president/country.

Which industrialized much earlier, has more natural resources, and had backing from Euro states that ruled the world at the time. Also far more isolated from invaders.

>>3315232
>China proves that capitalism = wealth, not democracy.

They're hardly mutually exclusive. Most democratic capitalist countries are richer anyway, and China is fighting off stronger liberalism as it shifts to free market.

Daily reminder that representative government is a form of oligarchy. Please don't pretend that the west is democratic, it's just a lie used to steal valour and attack foreign governments.

Representative democracy in it's current form is oligarchic. We need another trust busting aid with more populist reforms to curb tech monopolies.

China is incomparable to any other nation since it hasn't even achieved its historical percentage of world output, and from a standpoint of several millenia, can be considered to be underachieving at the moment.
>>
>>3321836
But China's historically high output was from a time when more labour = more output, and it could take advantage of its huge population. With industrialization and automation that just isn't completely true anymore.
>>
>>3322288
True, but they're getting onto the automation band wagon as well, just in time desu
>>
>>3315107
The United States literally gave China it's entire economy to undermine the Soviets. You don't find it odd at all that COMMUNIST China magically just happened to become the world's factory?

>Grant China Most Favored Nation status in the 80s
>Clearly it was Chinese "state capitalism" that was responsible for Chinese growth and not the US outsourcing virtually all of it's manufacturing to China
>>
>>3321836
Or maybe China doesn't account for half of the human population anymore??

Practically anything economics related here on /his/ is guaranteed to be fucking stupid.
>>
>>3322480
1. China's GDP in 1974 was $300 billion, over three times larger than in 1950.
2. The USA has achieved record manufactured value for essentially every year since our foundation. So no, we did not "outsource virtually all our manufacturing to China".
3. American FDI in China peaked at 10% in 2002, and has steadily declined since then.
Europe and Japan have 40% and 30% shares respectively.
If anyone helped China gain manufacturing, it was those nations and not the USA.
Furthermore, you seem to be deluded into thinking the Chinese workers themselves had no part in their economic growth.

Suffice to say, you are fucking retarded and should go back to

except the bit that when the us was founded like 95% of the population was farmers and Washington specifically warned against manufacturing as the basis for an economy as it was bad for freedom
