Did the Romans have any cool mythology? All I've heard about from that department is werewolves. Everything else is stolen Greek stuff.

While yes, a lot of it is stolen Greek stuff, the Romans did make it their own. Comparing the differences between Ares and Mars really helps you understand the differences between Roman and Greek Culture.

>Ares
>Represents the chaos and bloodbaths of war (Athena represents cunning and strategy)
>Total Jerk, literally the only positive part of his personality is his devotion to his daughters
>Despite being the God of war, he loses almost every fight he gets into
>Portrayed as an imbecile

>Mars
>God of war in all regards, and also agriculture
>Portrayed as the ideal citizen-soldier
>Merciful and just

Rome literally adds other people's gods into their Pantheon. Particularly that of the conquered.

Good examples are the Celtic Goddess Epona, which also became the Roman Goddess of Horses and Egypt's Isis, who became a major cult-figure.

Furthermore the Romans worshipped their ancestors while the Greeks didn't. Like the Chinese, the Romans saw their ancestors as minor dieties who had a direct influence over their lives as opposed to the Gods who managed greater concerns.

>OP asks about mythology
>People reply about Greco-Roman religion

That is like asking about mythology today and replying with popular religions. Sure they are both made up but one is a religion and the other is myths and folklore.

Romans tended to "borrow" stuff from cultures that they associated with. They even stole the gods of their enemies.

Their early history is pretty much all mythology and it's pretty cool

One funny anecdote involving Roman superstition was during the first punic war, the Roman navy was attempting to set off and fight Carthaginian fleets. They were consulting the sacred chickens to see if the omens were in favor to the Romans, but wouldn't eat the offerings.

This really rankled the commanding consul Publius Claudius Pulcher, so in a pissed off mood he tossed the sacred chickens overboard into the Mediterranean, under the logic that if they weren't hungry "then let them drink if they are thirsty"
Then the Romans engaged in the Battle of Trepana, and were utterly crushed, and a huge storm also wiped out large chunks of the Roman navy. Pulcher likely later killed himself

The origin story of Rome's founding and the creation of the Republic is pretty cool even if it is 99% bullshit that was made up way after the fact.

>Egypt's Isis, who became a major cult-figure.

The virgin Mary IS Isis.

The trinity of Orsis, Isis and Horus is the basis of the Christian trinity. The story of Horus is a mirror image of Jesus: Born to a virgin, his surname is CYST, born on the Winter Solstice, birth announced by the East Star (Sirius), stepfather was Seb (Joseph) etc.
Easter comes from Istar (older version of Isis), she is the moon goddess, born from an egg and her son liked bunnies.
Nimrod is actually Nemar, the king who united upper and lower Egypt..
Isis is still in use today, look at the dollar sign, it is two I's with two S's. The statue of liberty is based on Isis.

>The virgin Mary IS Isis.

No, her imagery influenced Mary's but the real source of the virgin Mary is Persephone, mother of Dionysos (Jesus).

>The trinity of Orsis, Isis and Horus is the basis of the Christian trinity.

Nope, that would be Persephone, Dionysos and Hades.

Wrong. Fuck off with your comparative mythology bullshit.
