>before the industrial revolution the average women throughout history had 5-7 children
>only 2.005 ever survived into adulthood
>population growth was very low
How did society deal with the trauma from all the dead children and babies? People must have been ice cold motherfuckers back then, I remember stories from my grandpa, he grew up on a farm and they would routinely exterminate vast quantities of baby kittens(via a bucket and water) because they knew the cat population was already high enough, it was just seen as a natural part of life, today it is unthinkable and illegal
they were very religious
My grandfather was born in 1925 he told me his parents didn't properly name him until he was about a year old.

I remember reading about how certain primitive African tribes don't consider infants real people until a certain age, because the infant mortality rate was so high it was traumatic to value an infant just to have it eventually die

The grief made it so that most people were generally quieter and more thoughtful (and more religious) than they are now.

Or we're pathetic pussies nowadays.
200 years from now, people will be wondering how we deal with losing a parent at 70 years old of heart attack, as most people will surpass 90 years, but we see it as normal. Humans can adapt to many things.

This actually happened in a lot of places like in East Europe.

Not if you live on a farm anon.
