Why is the Anglo-Iraqi war relatively so unknown? In high school I learnt of semi the Vichy French in the Middle East but Iraq was never once mentioned.
Especially such an a e s t h e t i c war

At least in general, fighting that is both
A) Outside of Europe
B) Against non-major powers
Tends to get ignored. Bet you didn't hear about the fighting in Gabon or Noumea either.

because it's impact in the grand scheme of WWII was absolutely minuscule. Iraq fell to a rebel group that aligned itself with the Axis, and lost to the British garrison in the area in 4 weeks before any real benefit could be seen by Germany and Italy.
Because it was pretty inconsequential all things told

In general the Middle East had no effect during WWII, the Suez was never under any real threat from the Italians and the Germans were eventually lost all influence in North Africa/Middle East

Nobody wants to talk about how the Arabs sided with the Nazis.
Brits irrelevant feats in both WWs are already too much talked about

Not aiding a genocidal maniac is called being a good person.

It, together with the invasion of Iran messes with the narrative of the allies as "good guys" and ww2 being a war with clear moral lines when the western allies go around invading neutral countries. So people keep quiet about because its inconvinient for the historical narrative that anglo society pushes.

Iraq declared war on the UK, though.
