The argument has always been on the dichotomy between military victory and political loss. Nobody has ever unironically claimed Vietnam was a total US victory, but rather that homefront garbage caused America to be defeated despite a winning position in the war.
>"You can't fire me, I quit!": the war

>The Paris Peace Accords, officially titled the Agreement on Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam, was a peace treaty signed on January 27, 1973 to establish peace in Vietnam and end the Vietnam War. The treaty included the governments of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam), the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam), and the United States, as well as the Provisional Revolutionary Government (PRG) that represented indigenous South Vietnamese revolutionaries. It ended direct U.S. military combat, and temporarily stopped the fighting between North and South Vietnam.
Just because retarded commies can't keep their end of the treaty does not mean the US lost.

USians also said that they will hold a referendum to merge North and South Vietnam, quess what never happened.

Yes it was going to be an election that was monitored by outside sources. But then the communists attacked. Funny how that works.
