So why was Malta able to hold back the Ottomans when Constantinople could not?
>>
Malta: Dragut died (Friendly fire) and Ottomans had to go back
Constantinople: Mehmed II dedicated his entire life to remove Greeks

What were the Serbs thinking. Why did they allow them to encroach into Europe slowly and conquer the balkanlar.
>>
>>3236063
Because white people are stupid and better at fighting each other than brown/tan/yellow people.
>>
>>3236038
Constantinople was in the twilight of it's life, still extremely formidable but a shadow of its former might.

Think for a moment that quite literally the only reason Constantinople fell is due to the fact that they simple didn't have the numbers to maintain the defense and the fact that they held for that long against such a massive force and constant bombardment by cannons is a testament to how strong Constantinople really was.

Not to mention the fact that they were up against a man whose literal mission in life was to remove the Greek and LITERALLY dragged his entire fleet of warships across many miles of land to do so.

Is it disappointing that the Arabs captured Constantinople but effectively ended the Roman Empire? Yes, yes it is but the Byzantines held on for as long as humanly possible and fought them like lions.

I blame Europe for Constantinople falling desu.
>>
>>3236085
But Serbs aren't white.
>>
>>3236038

the byzantines inside gave up, they had enough

Because the last emperor will awaken to take what is rightfully Greek territory by the end of this millennium.

>>

The Ottomans spent half a century whittling away at the edges of Constantinople, securing all major ports in the area, conquering miles of hinterland and removing any nearby threats, building up generations of experience campaigning in the region, and so on.

Malta was attacked in earnest just once, was very close to enemy waters without guaranteed Ottoman superiority at all times, and things were for the most part touch-and-go for the Turks.

Venetians and Genoans definitely preferred the Greeks, but what the fuck could they do to reverse the onslaught while doing their best to not get fucked in the ass by the rest of Europe/Ottoman fleet

Sto putting your post french revolution ideas of nationalism, romanticism etc into the past.
Christians butchered other christians, they were not romantic pan european pan christian nationalist, but acted within their own interest, the brotherly love was only used if it suited them.
and almost all major powers of europe, including the russians (Check the egyptian revolt backed by brits) allied themselves with Turks in one date or the other.

There is no "we must unite against pisslam to save EVROPA"

Medieval states =/= nation states in any capacity.
It's about which family wins, which vassals gain which plunder etc.

Read a bit.
Kantakouzenos was forced to withdraw north to Serbia, where he hoped to secure the aid of Stefan Dušan. Soon after, Hrelja also deserted Kantakouzenos and joined the regency, hoping to gain control of Melnik for himself.[48] In July 1342, Kantakouzenos met Dušan near Pristina. The Serbian ruler appeared initially reluctant to form an alliance. Nevertheless, under pressure from his nobles, especially the powerful Jovan Oliver, he could not afford to miss this unique opportunity to expand south. Desperately in need of Serbian aid, Kantakouzenos apparently agreed that the Serbs could keep any town they took, despite his own later account to the contrary. According to Nikephoros Gregoras, the Serbs claimed all of Macedonia west of Christopolis (Kavala), except for Thessalonica and its environs. The only concession Kantakouzenos secured was that an exception be made for those towns that surrendered to him in person

Malta is a small Island in the middle of the Mediterranean with next to no resources, including freshwater. They have the finest port in the entire med, but thats it, there is no single other bay or harbor safe enough for winter weather. Which means for any invader by autumn you have to leave the island unless you take the harbor.
>>
>>3238012
well, thy are krypto-kurds. essentially all modern turks are just larping.
>>
>>3238018
Also, de Valetta was the right kind of bastard.

>"Mustafa had the bodies of the knights decapitated and their bodies floated across the bay on mock crucifixes. In response, de Valette beheaded all his Turkish prisoners, loaded their heads into his cannons and fired them into the Turkish camp."
Imagine this in a modern movie.
>>
>>3236713
idk if it was the Jewish quarters, but it is truth that the Ottomans were able to enter the city due to someone "accidentally" leaving a gate open.

How are they aryan tier?
They look like american mutts
>>
>>3236038
Now i'm just talking out of my ass here but I would think that a small island on the middle of the Mediterranean with a gigantic fortress would be a lot harder to take in general than a big ass city in the continent, especially in the medieval period.

And even then it took a lot of work and many centuries for the muslims to take it.
>>
>>3238103
by that time the gate was discovered the walls were already breached anyway so they wouldve taken it soooner or later
>>
>>3238103
>>3238115
>Though long having fallen into decay, the last days of that empire as told in "1453" may have come down to a single gate left unlocked during the height of battle. Certainly the sheer numbers of the attacking Turks, their mighty cannons, the religious zeal of jihad and their superior organization factored highly into how the battle was won. But if not for this turning point in the final attack on Constantinople -- -- the unlocked gate allowed the Turks to overcome the wall of Theodosius -- the Byzantine Empire may have withstood. If only a short while longer.

its from roger crowleys book
>>
>>3238352
also this from wikipedia

>With Giustiniani's Genoese troops retreating into the city and towards the harbor, Constantine and his men, now left to their own devices, kept fighting and managed to successfully hold off the Janissaries for a while, but eventually they could not stop them from entering the city. The defenders were also being overwhelmed at several points in Constantine's section. When Turkish flags were seen flying above a small postern gate, the Kerkoporta, which was left open, panic ensued, and the defense collapsed, as Janissary soldiers, led by Ulubatlı Hasan pressed forward. Many Greek soldiers ran back home to protect their families, the Venetians ran over to their ships, and a few of the Genoese got over to Galata. The rest committed suicide by jumping off the city walls or surrendered[4]

>which was left open

i dont have the book they used as a source (Nicol, Donald M. (1993). The Last Centuries of Byzantium, 1261-1453 ) so i cant verify

Not to mention that Constantinople had been sacked before.

Twice, I believe, both by Christians, so by the time M*hmmed got there it was a bit of a moot point as the city had long since been on a bit of a decline.

A couple reasons
1: The Ottomans, Mehmet in particular, were far more driven during the siege of Constantinople, and remained as such. The Turkish force at Malta was demoralized almost from the start.
2: lack of resupply. Constantinople is right there, next to Ottoman territory. Supplies and manpower were a few days away at worst. Malta, meanwhile, was half of the Mediterranean away, taking weeks to supply the men, and that's when Spanish fleets weren't harassing their ships. The delay in communication with Istanbul, especially, hampered the Ottoman siege ability, as any reports and pleas for supplies would be outdated by over a month.
3: minor one, but The Knights were so fucking ready. They'd planned for this siege for years after the loss of Rhodes, and they knew they had to keep in top form. This also applied to fortifications: with the exception of some old parts which hadn't been redone, the fortifications at Malta were some of the most State-of-the-art Fortresses in Europe by the time the Turks showed up. Constantinople, meanwhile, was relying on ancient, though immensely thick, walls which had stood since the 4th century. Good as they were, they were just as immensely outdated, and unsuited for the rising use of gunpowder in sieges.
