What do you guys think of the epic of sundiata?
> significant historical value
> gives us an idea of power inbalance and a power vacuĆ¼m after the fall of the Ghana empire
> Alexander the great - like figure, conquers and expands a fallen empire, also had 4 great generals
> lots of insight in the mande culture and values
> Sacrifice, loss, redemption and many more literary themes that really rival western literary themes at the time
> these themes heavily play around the mande family structure
Is it the greatest literary work of africa?
Can we compare it to the carolingian prose in europe?

I love it. Awesome Mandinka story. He actually gets his own campaign in Age of Empires II. Knowing /his/, though, this thread is gonna die down pretty soon. Nobody here has even heard of the guy, it seems.
