I understand the limitations of the scientific method and logical positivism. But why do people pretend that those limitations imply that continental philosophy or critical theory or religion have any worth? Why do you refuse to admit that the judgement of these things relies on fashions such as academia citation circlejerks?

Why do people have faith in logic? It's an invisible order that exists in your head.
Speaking on their behalf... some things do lay outside the strict calculations of logic and science. For example one might find a very efficient way to build gigantic pyramids using science, and that is all very well, however what is your motive? Are the goals worthwhile? Why bother in the first place? They have a similar attitude towards capitalism, viewing themselves as lofty ethereal intellectuals and the only ones who can see past the rat race and question what it is all for.
It is less a rejection of science and more an abuse of subjectivity. For example if they insist a urinal is art, that is their subjective opinion, they have decided it is good and they want more art like it, you can't scientifically prove it is not art. If you support public arts funding expecting beautiful murals, ornate statues and colorful mosaics adorning your city and instead get splattered paint and blobby statues you can't complain.

Because logic isn't an invisible force in your head. If there are 2 apples on the ground, there are 2 apples on the ground. That's not in my head; I'm able 5o scientifically confirm there are 2 fucking apples in front of me. I know you're speaking to logic but I'm talking to science.
