Only 2 out of 4 gospels pretty much name Jesus' human father: Joseph.
Now how come Mary is venerated and honored so much in Christian traditions while Joseph kinda gets to be a nobody? Considering the highly patriarchal nature of the Hebrews, Joseph was probably the boss of Jesus' young life and taught him many things.
The Theotokos is venerated because her womb bore Christ. Joseph, though, is still revered as a saint. He's just not present in the Gospels because, well, he died before Christ became an adult.
