Why do we study history? I would give some bullshit answer about the "learn from the past, build for the future" meme, but I just find it fascinating.
Yeah obviously because you're just some millenial nobody who doesn't make any money by doing academic work nor are you in any sort of position that would make your historically-informed decisions carry any kind of weight. literally nobody here is going to have a different answer from yours

So we don't lose any important information from the past and have some context to put that information to.
I wanted to improve my writing so I took some History courses since you usually write multiple essays for each course.

Are the essays tricky (like topic and whatnot) or are they just incredibly simple?

Depends on course, instructor, and school combination.

Because solipsism is retarded, and anything that is not solipsism is, in some sense, history.
History is the study of what is. Why does my house look like it does? Why do I do math the way I do? Who put that part of the river there? What is voting, how do I do it, and how does it work? Can the Army quarter troops in my home? What are all these metal fragments I keep digging up in my garden? How come Saudi Arabia is bombing Yemen? What's that building with the compass and square logo on the doorway?
Every question is, in some sense, either a historical question or has some root in history.
Ancestor worship horsepiss. Obsession with institutionalizing mythology. Falling for the meme that a past exists.

There is no 'what is' you stupid humanist.

Not an argument.
I think it's cool.

Did OP ask for an argument against solipsism? No? Well, shit. Good thing I'm not posting off-topic nonsense without purpose.

learning history is the only way to achieve conscious identity
any other condition is just being a sheep

Because its fun?
I just like to read about wars, how people lived and how different cultures interacted with eachother.
