Blacks and whites in South Africa coexist uneasily at best. Don't get me wrong; Mandela's decision to be a reconciler instead of a warlord spared SA from civil war, but it's still a terribly violent place. Could be worse, but I wouldn't call it an umitigated success.

The real success story of coexistence in Africa is Namibia, and they were lucky as shit. The situation could've easily gone like Zimbabwe.
